However IT Sligo has no official affiliation with it, meaning that there aren’t places guaranteed for first years coming into the college. Of the student residences Clarion village and Ard Nua has proved to be the most popular. However they can be pricy and there have been stories of people having trouble getting their deposits back from Ard Nua. One thing that makes the Clarion village so attractive is residence get free membership to the leisure facilities at the local clarion hotel. Other options include Grove apartments and Yeats village. Previous students have said that Grove has to be the easiest to deal with, as the management is more relaxed than the others. Parking is available for most accommodation. Here you’ll also find a full list of recommended landlords if you want to live elsewhere, such as in the town. Students recommend this if you’re looking to get a part time job somewhere. IT Sligo is the best college in the West of Ireland. It is small, i.e, in comparison to say bigger colleges/universities. This has advantages: smaller lectures, smaller tutorials, more direct access to lecturers, library not crowded, canteens not crowded, and a better choice of good quality accommodation. IT Sligo are World achievers: think 'Team Hermes', they bet off over 300, thousand competitors to take the Microsoft World cup - fantastic. The research element is very strong at IT Sligo. Many students go on to do Masters and PhD's. Facilities for researchers are second to none. IT Sligo is accessible by rail and by road, both offer very good services. There are ample parking places if you drive. There are Sports scholarships, Sport is high on the agenda. There is a racing track; an all weather, well lit sprots field and the massive Knocknarea Arena offering numerous sports, too many to list here. It is new and exceptional. You must see it to believe it. Shops, cafe's and large canteens are plentiful. The Students Union is active, exceptionally helpful and very strong, staff are exceptionally friendly. Administration staff are all helpful and the office is open at suitable times to accommodate students needs. 'You cannot fail under the shadow of bare Ben Bulben's Head'
