Why did you choose your course?

I chose my course as i always had an interest in Art and Design, especially in Fabric so i decided to specialise in Textiles as it would be a an interesting topic to Learn.

Are you happy with your choice of course?

On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

it was a bit of Both, while i love the college and the people here, i wouldnt change them for the world.. the course is very up in a heap. the first semester of first year Art and Design is a joke, if you have done a Plc they year before you are basically repeating everything. And as for textile you spend 80-90% of your time on reasearch work so you dont get to do very much practical classes so you arent really gaining much skills. Also the lectures arent at all enthusiastic and really seem like they dont enjoy there positions.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week? (labs, tutorials, lectures, etc)

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

Is your course weighted more on

Continuous assessment

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

Printing and Dyeing the tutor is very thourogh .
Embroidery Workshops although we didnt get much varaiety in techniques thaught

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

The amount of time spent on reasearch and the lecturers attitudes

Was your course what you expected?

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

That the course was more reasearch than practical and that we would have to deal with being put down alot by tutors.
That the lecturers dont have many contemporary views and there insight is quite dated as they have been there so long and havent been practising artists in a long time.

the librarians are fantastic and so helpful, but the choice of books is quite dated, especially in textiles, there isnt a wide enough choiice, but this is more down to the lectures whom dont order us newer more contempary books

Is there a good social life on your course?
