Why did you choose to study this course?

I was interested in Economics in school and wanted a 2 subject course to have a bit of variety, so I chose Economics & Sociology.

Are you happy with your choice of course?

The modules I have are very interesting and there aren't too many hours per week so I can participate in a lot of extra curricular activities. Also, there is the opportunity to pick up a lot of marks before having to sit down in an exam hall at all, so it takes a lot of pressure off.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week?

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

Is your course weighted more on continuous assessment or end of year exams?

End of year exams

What advice would you give to a prospective student interested in this course?

join clubs or societies and get involved, live with strangers

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

There is a small number of people (about 40) in the course, so it's really easy to get to know everyone. Some of the assessments were really interesting, particularly the media diary in Sociology of the Media and the work study in Sociology of Work. I didn't know much about sociology at the start of the year but these assessments gave me a clearer understanding of how it related to my life.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

Some modules, although interesting, were hard to grasp at first. The topics seemed obscure, but after a while I began to understand what I needed to learn my aims became much clearer and I had something to work towards
