Why did you choose to study this course?

Unlike a typical arts language degree you are afforded the choices of subjects such as marketing and politics which directly benefit in conjunction with your languages, not only are you equipped with a foreign language you have a basis of knowledge to use your degree in the E.U. for example or with international companies as a marketer/translator, it also includes teaching aspects and allows you to sample a lot of different career paths.

Are you happy with your choice of course?

It was the right choice for me as I am not sure where I want to take my language degree but the beauty of it is that language students are in demand and companies are willing to train you with certain skills on the basis that you use them in your chosen language. It also includes the chance to travel for up to a year.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week?

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

Is your course weighted more on continuous assessment or end of year exams?

Continuous assessment

What advice would you give to a prospective student interested in this course?

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

Feeling part of a group with a similar interest. It is much easier to become friends with someone who has similar interests. Also linguistics draws on social aspects of language such as gay language and hip hops its very interesting

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

The lack of mixing at times with other foreign students of our spoken language.

If you studied abroad, is there any advice you would give someone looking to study abroad?

I have not yet gone abroad but since the first semester we have been discussing our possibilities abroad. Also within the course we have many students from other countries who say its a wonderful experience
