Why did you choose to study this course?

I loved biology in secondary school and wanted to study genetics or neuroscience so I applied to do Natural Science, reading the prospectus I thought you could choose to specialize in whatever you wanted for the final years, I didn't realize it was a competitive process until second year, unfortunately I found Chemistry difficult and I had to sit the supplemental chemistry exam in second year and despite doing quite well in that and having done well in all the other exams first time round I was left to choose a subject from what was leftover, all of which I had no interest in, so after studying Chemistry for the whole summer and having done well in the repeat exam I chose this. Long story short I'm in Chemistry because I failed Chemistry.

Are you happy with your choice of course?

No

Why

I have absolutely no interest in it, I cant imagine myself ever wanting to do a job or further study in this area, its far too time consuming and boring, I never wanted to do it I just picked it because I didn't want to study plants for the rest of my life, looking back I wish I had of either not picked Chemistry in second year, studied harder in first and second year, failed and repeated second year or dropped out and picked a different course.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week?

30+hrs

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

On

Is your course weighted more on continuous assessment or end of year exams?

End of year exams

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

The option modules, they are sometimes more biology based.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

How time consuming it is not just the amount of lectures and labs but the lab reports take on average about 15hrs each to complete every week and then study time on top of that, having a social life is almost impossible.
