Why did you choose your course?

Parent's influence

Are you happy with your choice of course?

Indifferent

On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

It could be the right choice, because yes, the nursing job is in demand over here and abroad (even in the middle of the recession, nurses would still be required by hospitals, schools, nursing homes, clinics etc., which is an advantage over other courses) but in terms of academics, I am not impressed by the way Trinity handles its school of Nursing and Midwifery. UCD and DCU offers (I have learned from research) more wide ranged job opportunities.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week? (labs, tutorials, lectures, etc)

21-25hrs

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

Off

If off campus, does this affect you and how?

We do not get to interact with other Trinity students. We do not feel like Trinity students at times. We do not have the leisure to meet peers outside of our course unless we are the sociable, outgoing type who already has connections outside the course. Placements are grueling and tolling, especially if we are doing our internship in the hospital.

Is your course weighted more on

End of year exams

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

No

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

Doing third year electives, which is a nice change from doing "nursing" work. Lectures, which makes us feel more like students, are often at the hospital, we are seen and regarded as professionals or close to professionals. It's also a nice change not having responsibilities except academics.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

Long placement hours, being situated off campus, not having enough "time" to do another course such as a minor language. Not feeling like a student.

Was your course what you expected?

No

Why?

It boasts the best in the country. I have no complaints.
