Why did you choose your course?

A lot of my classmates and I have been asking ourselves this a lot recently! I was good at Maths and Science in school and people encouraged me to do engineering even though I wasn't totally sure what it was.

Are you happy with your choice of course?

No

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week? (labs, tutorials, lectures, etc)

26-30hrs

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

On

Is your course weighted more on

End of year exams

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

Yes

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

The people are great. I suppose I like a few of the subjects but it’s not something I want to do with my life.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

Report writing, I don't have an aptitude for engineering so I find the design projects very boring.

Was your course what you expected?

No

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

The type of job you would actually be doing. What engineering really is, I’d say at least half of my friends regret choosing engineering.

Why?

Weekend services are fairly limited, 24hr study space is way too small.

Why do you enjoy being a member of this society? why should a prospective student think of joining this society?

VDP runs over 20 activities every week, you get to make a difference in someone's life and meet people outside your course and have the ‘craic’. I Have made the most amazing friends through this society.

Are you a member of any sports clubs?

No

How much do you spend on living every week (going out, food, transport etc.), excluding rent and bills?

€40-60
