Why did you choose your course?

It is a broad course and offered an array of options.

Are you happy with your choice of course?

No

On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

It was the wrong choice because it was poorly managed, it has too many students and there was not enough personal interaction with our lecturers.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week? (labs, tutorials, lectures, etc)

16-20hrs

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

On

Is your course weighted more on

End of year exams

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

Yes

If you studied abroad, is there any advice you would give someone looking to study abroad?

There was an option to study abroad, but the number of places available didn't reflect the enormous size of the class.

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

The course material is very interesting and it was very nice to be able to choose from so many different modules.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

The lack of continuous assessment, the disengagement of both the lecturers and the rest of the class, the poor organization of the department.

Was your course what you expected?

No

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

I wish someone would have told me I am only judged on my final set of exams and that Trinity spends less per student than every other college that I almost went to!

Why?

The library hours are the worst in Ireland. The 24hr room is a horrible working environment around exam time. There are no plugs in the Lecky. More of the library should be digitalized.

Rate your course in terms of difficulty

Neither Easy not Difficult

Please rate your course in terms of workload

Less than other courses

Are you an active member of any societies?

No

Are you a member of any sports clubs?

Yes

Please choose your sport(s) club

AFC (Soccer)

Are your training facilities easily accessible?

Yes

If no, why not?

Soccer are lucky in that they train on campus. However, most are not so lucky, even the rugby teams who all have to train on the same field. On the whole sports facilities are appalling at TCD.

Do you feel that you are playing at a standard that matches your ability?

No

What would be helpful to know before joining your sports club?

That there are only two teams and that only the first team plays in a league. And that league is not great fun to play in.

Would you recommend getting involved in college sport?

Yes

Why?

I would because sport is always good regardless of the facilities. I would add that organization, professionalism, funding and facilities are second rate at TCD.

How much do you spend on living every week (going out, food, transport etc.), excluding rent and bills?

€140-160

Do you or have you lived away from home during college?

Yes

How much does your rent cost per month?

€650-750

As a first year did you live in college halls?

Yes

Would you recommend living in college halls?

Yes
Great to meet people. Rooms are nice.
