Are you happy with your choice of course?

Yes

Why?

I'm in the BESS programme, its a fantastic course which lets you experience a wide varity of modules from a language to economics to sociology to politics to business and lots more options in between. If at the end of the first you still havent decided whats best for you, you still have the option to change in third year. Its great you can do a single or joint degree.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week? (labs, tutorials, lectures, etc)

11-15hrs

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

On

If off campus, does this affect you and how?

All lectures are located in the city centre, and in most tutorials you can choose the one that best suits your time table. Giving you plenty of free time to pursue study or socities and socialising with fellow students

Is your course weighted more on

End of year exams

Yes

If you studied abroad, is there any advice you would give someone looking to study abroad?

As a mature i did not take this option because of family commitments but the option was there.

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

the course is really focused on critical thinking as-well as applying rigorous analytical theory, its a completly didderent approach to hot housing and really makes you think twice about things all around you such as news headlines and articles;
'what are they telling you, what are they not telling you and what is the hidden agenda?'

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

there is not much wrong with course the work load can be a little bit though but with some good organisation and help from the teaching assistants any areas can be addressed.

Was your course what you expected?

Yes

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

As a mature student i took all available help that was offered so the college work was ok. If i had of known how hard it was to write academically since returning to education i would have sought more help with writing sooner, but again taking advantage of the help offered put me on the wright track.

Helpful leaving cert (or equivalent) subjects?

I took my leaving cert back in 1995 and the classes were of little help to the course work i experienced in college. A lot of the material was brand new and the maths and statistics seemed very hard. but now i;m in second year and the maths and statistics are second nature.

Library facilities

library facilities are excellent, they are all year around and you can renew books online. they have a 24 hour study area and ample study areas and computer rooms all around the College.

Is there a good social life on your course?
