Why did you choose to study in this college?

I am a carpenter by trade, I wanted to further my education with an office environment and still stay connected to the construction industry.

Are you happy with your choice of course?

Yes

On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

It is the right choice for me because in one sense it is so far removed from what i was used to, but on the other hand it is so closely linked, given me in depth knowledge into items I have dealt with all my life, also we are dealing with the legal aspects of the industry of which I had interest in.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week?

16-20hrs

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

On

Is your course weighted more on continuous assessment or end of year exams?

End of year exams

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

I don't know

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

Land surveying, using all the equipment and learning how to survey different areas in different ways

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

In the beginning it was communications but now i really see the importance of it, I.E how to approach meetings, write formal letters, reports etc, giving presentations in front of groups (of which i would not be able to do before this course. So really now I don't dislike any of the course or find it less relevant.

Was your course what you expected?

Yes

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

I had a lot of slang terminology from working in construction for 20 years which I found hard to let go and get used to the new terminology.

Why?

Staff very helpful and pleasant, easy to source and locate material and different areas for personal study, quiet areas and group rooms for group study/projects

Rate your course in terms of difficulty

Neither Easy nor Difficult

Please rate your course in terms of workload

Similar to other courses

Are you an active member of any societies?

No

Are you a member of any sports clubs?

No

How much do you spend on living every week (going out, food, transport etc.), excluding rent and bills?

60-80

Do you or have you lived away from home during college?

Yes

How much does your rent cost per month?

350-450

As a first year did you live in college halls?

No

If yes, where and why?

Clarion Village - It is within walking distance of the college. It is quite cheap and the quality of the apartments are really good. I have lived there for 1 year and I am going to live there next year as well.

If yes, where and why?

Glen Carrick - If you are looking for an education then I don't think these houses are for you. These houses are known for parties and disturbances and if you are looking to get work done then this isn't for you.

How would you recommend this college to a friend?

I think the communication between the college and the students is amazing! This is acheived through the students union and I can only think of one word to discribe them in my 2 years in the college......AMAZING
