Why did you choose to study in this college?

I had an interest in marketing and advertising, mainly advertising and seen this course as a career path into the field

Are you happy with your choice of course?

On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

I am indifferent on the matter, the course did not live up to what it was billed to be and we are given a lot of hours. It may have been the wrong choice as although i like my main class in marketing, the other modules are difficult, i.e maths and financial accounting.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week?

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

Is your course weighted more on continuous assessment or end of year exams?

Continuous assessment

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

If you studied abroad, is there any advice you would give someone looking to study abroad?

To balance their attention slightly towards the language in which they are studying and not to see the module as a subject without a final exam, but to see it as extra work that has to be done inside the classroom

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

The marketing/intro to business management classes as you can give your own opinion. It is much more like an english class where marks are granted for your opinion and not just learning it word for word.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

Maths! When going to the careers advisor this module was not mentioned and i feel that as maths is not my strong point, it makes the course a lot more difficult. Also i find it difficult learning this type of module in a large, lecture hall environment as the class seems to lose attention quickly and can cause a major distraction.

Was your course what you expected?

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

The amount of hours involved and the heavy burden of maths in the course. I understand that the maths module will always be required for the subject but personally i feel that a high majority of marks for such a subject should be through continuous assessment as it is only a one year module.

In terms of the scale of the library and the amount of rooms for study groups etc the library is excellent, having been in another IT library it pales in comparison to the library at IT Sligo but there is a major shortage of computers and printing facilities.

Rate your course in terms of difficulty

Neither Easy nor Difficult

Please rate your course in terms of workload

Less than other courses

Are you an active member of any societies?

Are you a member of any sports clubs?

How much do you spend on living every week (going out, food, transport etc.), excluding rent and bills?

Do you or have you lived away from home during college?

How much does your rent cost per month?

As a first year did you live in college halls?

If yes, where and why?

Most of the accomodation provided around Sligo is very student friendly and reasonably prices. The neighbourhoods are clean and friendly and a lot of accomodation is provided very close to the college.

If yes, where and why?

I would not reccomment the Mulberry area to prospective students as there have been a number of break-ins and students valuables being taken. The area has gotten a bad name for itself since it started happening.

How would you recommend this college to a friend?

What I love about IT Sligo is that you have students coming from all corners of the country and end up getting on so well. i also love that there is great mixing between the different classes throughout the college and that students have such a friendly relationship with most of the lecturers who are very approachable and will go out of their way to help you in any way they can.
