Why did you choose your course?

i chose it because my leaving cert results indiated that i had a secure grasp of the sciences so i leaned toward what would come easily to me in college. the location was ideal for me as it allowed me to leave home and become an indpenant adult.

Are you happy with your choice of course?

Indifferent

On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

i belive the course will be beneficial to my carrer and possibly society as a whole due to the scientific and anti criminality aspects that are crucial to the degrees structure.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week? (labs, tutorials, lectures, etc)

16-20hrs

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

On

Is your course weighted more on

Continuous assessment

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

I don't know

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

the human interest pieces that are focus of lectures and tutorials on a weekly and inter subject level keeps my interest fresh as parts of modules are linked to current events all of the time.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

there seems to be a crucial lack of funding for laboratory and practical assesments that seriously need to be sorted. also, there seems to be the odd superfluous

Was your course what you expected?

No

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

i wish i had known that the course was more analytical chemistry based than criminal law based.

Why?

because every book ive ever needed to use was in plentiful supply. the study room and meeting rooms were a welcome addition in the last year

Is there a good social life on your course?

Yes

Please describe

nearly all of my classmates and students as a whole seem to be very outgoing and keen to make long lasting friendships and relationships with their fellow students and sligo natives.

Rate your course in terms of difficulty

Neither Easy not Difficult

Please rate your course in terms of workload

Similar to other courses

Are you an active member of any societies?

No

Are you a member of any sports clubs?

No

Would you recommend getting involved in college sport?

Not for me

How much do you spend on living every week (going out, food, transport etc.), excluding rent and bills?

€60-80

Do you or have you lived away from home during college?

Yes

How much does your rent cost per month?

€250-350

As a first year did you live in college halls?

No

If yes, where and why?

housing estates like cartron and rathbraughan are noticable unsafe and have old, poor quality houses for rent. student busy estates like glencarrig, rockfield and mulberry park are high priced (€100 per week ex. bills) and there are reports of break ins every semester.

How would you recommend this college to a friend?

i would say that sligo is a fgun chance of scenery, where everyone seems to have found that perfect balance between academic and social life.
