Why did you choose your course?

During my leaving cert I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do...and I like a lot of people have always had an interest in events management, I mean it seems like a nice job, right? However as it was only an interest I didn't want to limit myself to just a degree in events so I decided Marketing with PR and Events was the best way to go, a marketing degree is so useful and it opens up so many options for further study and job prospects after college I figured it would be perfect and I would get a taste of events and public relations. I felt it was a good choice for me as I wasn't sure excatly what I wanted to do and this course was going to give me a lot of options.

Are you happy with your choice of course?

On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

It was the right choice for me because as I said I got a taste of PR, Events management and Marketing. I went into the course thinking events would be something I would most likely love to do and found myself really interested in PR and now I am considering a career in this area, it was excellent to be exposed to the different area's as you can find what your good at and what you would enjoy as a career.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week? (labs, tutorials, lectures, etc)

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

If off campus, does this affect you and how?

Is your course weighted more on

End of year exams

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

If you studied abroad, is there any advice you would give someone looking to study abroad?

I personaly havn't studied abroad as the option is only available to students who choose a language as their elective subject. But I know a number of students who did it and would highly recommend it, I mean you get to travel abroad and immerse yourself in the countries launguage and culture, why not go? :)

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

The fact that the course is so open you dont feel as though you are working towards a specific career, you learn a lot in the course and there is a great mix of practical elements as well as theory. We get a mix of group and individual projects which can be tough but they allow you to discover what your good and not so good at. I like the fact that the course is not too large, I feel like everyone know;s their lecturer's and they know us and it feels more personal...they seem to care about the students success and are always willing to help and give you chances to do additional work experience outside of the classroom.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

For me my least favourite would be the fact that in first year the course is primarily marketing based even if you choose events and PR you dont get into that part of your course until second year, its good as it gives you the options to choice another area in second year but I personaly felt that if you choose that course you should be learing events and PR straight away and the first should carry as much practical elements as say third year.

Was your course what you expected?

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

As I stated in the previous question I would have liked to know that the first year was more marketing based, just so I wouldn't have been expecting to be learning about event organisation straight away, it was dissappointing.

They recently re-done are library and its great, the layout is fantastic, we have a social zone and a quiet study zone, they are seminar rooms with tv's and these are great for practicing presentation. The only negative would be the lack of computers in the library itself.
