Why did you choose your course?

to be perfectly honest I landed in my course by accident. I was really interested in buildings and interiors but I didnt feel I had enough brain power for architecture because I didnt do fantastic in my leaving cert. I took a 3 years off after school and lived in limerick and realised I had a key interest in realty but when I applied I didnt have enough points so..... being from sligo I thought id look up the IT here and the only course that even caught my attention was Interior Architecture, or as I thought at the time....Interior Design

Are you happy with your choice of course?

On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

in hind-sight, Interior Architecture was the perfect course for me. there was definately something pointing me in its direction because from day 1 I absolutely loved it. now dont get me wrong, its a time consuming course with a high fail rate but its the kind of course that the more you put in the more you will get out of it.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week? (labs, tutorials, lectures, etc)

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

Is your course weighted more on

Continuous assessment

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

If you studied abroad, is there any advice you would give someone looking to study abroad?

ensure that the college you are intending to go do teach in english, unless you are fluent or aim to become fluent in another language.

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

As I mentioned already, I love the course, but my favourite aspects are that it really encourages your growth (cheesy and all as it sounds) I have become a much more confident person since starting. My belief in my own abilities is beyond recognition before I first started. other aspects is the fact that there are very little sit down lectures. The lecturers encourage interaction between the students and preferr discussional lecturers instead of them standing at the top of the room and everyone falling asleep with boredom. I also adore the fact that every year there is a cumpulsary class trip, it usually happens before christmas so save money from the start of the year. years gone by have gone to ... rome, lisbon, berlin, barcelona, london. another thing I like are the lecturers. they not only become part of your everyday life, they have become people that i know i could approach with any subject as they are interested in you, your not just a number, you have a name and a face that you dont get in many colleges

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

This course takes 100% dedication in order for you to get the grades that you need to suceed in the industry. I wont lie, there is an expectation of countless sleepless nights throughout the course, but if you really apply yourself during the day, the all-nighters become fewer

Was your course what you expected?

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

I wish someone had sat me down on day one and told me to basically come in to each and every class and do the projects as soon as they were given to you. if you do that then you'll have absolutely no problems in this course

they have a great supply of architecture based reading, also the online libruary (ebooks) is fantastic for sourcing material

Is there a good social life on your course?

Please describe

this one is compleetly up to the individual. You make fantastic life long friends within the course because you spend alot of time with the people in the studio, and if you make time for socialising then of course there can be. but dont expect an absolutely fantastic guilt free one, you wont get it if you intend on passing
