Why did you choose to study this course?

I chose my course because I found science the most interesting and useful course. I can go into many fields with science and really enjoy learning all new and different things.

Are you happy with your choice of course?

On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

I truly believe that I could not do any other course. The people and the atmosphere really suits who I am as a person. I love the atmosphere and constant learning of new and innovative things. The workload is very heavy but I don't mind as I enjoy studying each subject to give me a wider scope on the subject as a whole.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week?

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

Is your course weighted more on continuous assessment or end of year exams?

Continuous assessment

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

If you studied abroad, is there any advice you would give someone looking to study abroad?

I haven't studies abroad but I know people who have and I think the main thing is to be yourself and try to make lots of new friends and meet new people. I believe thats the biggest advantage to develop you as a person.

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

The learning parts in lectures when something clicks and you understand a very hard concept it is very gratifying.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

Labs in first year are very long and tedious. You tend to be more focused on getting home to rest after such a long day.

Was your course what you expected?

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

More chemistry as this came up a lot and I had to struggle with a lot of new concepts but the support by lecturers was very good.

It is always quiet and organized and clean. A perfect environment to study and get work done. It is also very stimulating as you are surrounded by many students studying.

If yes, please name the societies

L&H society, Science society and archaeology society.

Why do you enjoy being a member of this society? why should a prospective student think of joining this society?

It’s a great place to meet friends from different courses and learn new things. Its a very sociable environment and every week there's something on in it.

Are you a member of any sports clubs?

How much do you spend on living every week (going out, food, transport etc.), excluding rent and bills?

Do you or have you lived away from home during college?

How would you recommend this college to a friend?

At first I didn't think UCD would be my cup of tea because I thought it was very pretentious. But when I got here I realized the amount of different people in the college and everyone has a friend in UCD. The support system from UCD students union is exceptional. They do everything in their power for you and make such an effort to better the college in any way they can. I think the college as a whole is such a good support system for someone coming into college and a bit nervous about it.
