Why did you choose to study this course?

Always wanted to work with animals, love being outdoors. I couldn’t see myself as anything other than a vet

On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

It’s what I need to do to get the job I want, the course is difficult but worthwhile. Class mates are like minded and the course work is a good mix of practical and theory

Animal handling practicals

There is a lot of biochemistry and physiology which is difficult to learn

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

Biology is needed despite not being a prerequisite


There isn't enough room for all the students that need to use the library, there is a sufficient quantity of course books available

Class nights out are infrequent but worth the wait, the heavy work load prevents regular nights out

It is a great way of meeting new people from other years in veterinary, they organise talks to extend our learning and add a practical side to the theory we learn

Roebuck Castle in Clonskeagh, very close to UCD, affordable rent and loads of students live there

How would you recommend this college to a friend?

Very close knit community in veterinary, the craic is mighty
