Why did you choose your course?

I have wanted to be a barrister and Human Rights Advocate from a young age and I decided that pursuing a law degree was a good start to achieving my ambitions.

Are you happy with your choice of course?


On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

I have a personality well suited to a law degree; I am a speed reader and I enjoy reading. I enjoy public speaking and am confident speaking in front of large groups of people. I have good analytical and language skills and my enjoyment of problem solving made Law a good choice for me.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week? (labs,tutorials,lectures,etc)

If you studied abroad, is there any advice you would give someone looking to study abroad?


What are your favourite aspects of your course?

-Various different types of Law we have the choice to study
-The interesting cases we get to examine
-Challenging judgments and legislation and interpreting the latter in different ways
-Mooting and public speaking- there is definitely an adrenaline "buzz" from it.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

-There is a lot to read....A LOT! It can be overwhelming especially if for some reason you fall behind it can be Very hard to catch up!

-Time coming up to exams are very stressful as there is a lot to memorise!

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

Just how much reading was involved!


-The extended library hours during the exams are fantastic for crammers!
-There are study rooms to rent which mean that you can form study groups which can be every helpful!
-You can rent laptops from the library!

-There are not enough desks and plugs for laptops in the library
-There are not enough of certain types of books!

Is there a good social life on your course?

We have law nights out for all of the law classes. Also, LawSoc organise nights out and events too! Also there are only 80 people in LAW-BCL so we all got to know each other pretty quickly!
