Are you happy with your choice of course?

Yes

Why?

Most of the modules were similar to what I studied in secondary school, so the transition was easy. The course is fairly interesting and not that difficult but what I love most about it is the people in the course, they're great.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week? (labs, tutorials, lectures, etc)

26-30hrs

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

On

Is your course weighted more on

End of year exams

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

I don't know

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

Having the Engineering computer lab to study in instead of trying to find a space in the Library, the people in the course, being familiar with what we're learning so it's not too hard.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

There's a good few hours in it I suppose and I'm not a fan of two of the modules.

Was your course what you expected?

Yes

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

To put in the hours as they will pay off come exam time.

Helpful leaving cert (or equivalent) subjects?

Higher Maths and Physics.
Chemistry would be helpful, and biology does come up.
Applied Maths, maybe.

Library facilities

Good for short term loans, good for printing services (there's i.t. guys there who are very helpful), hard to find a computer around exam time though.

Is there a good social life on your course?

Yes

Please describe

Firstly, there's Toxic Tuesday. It's held in DCU in The Hub every week, and basically everyone gets plastered and has an amazing time. Great if you're living on campus but even if you don't you end up making friends with someone who lives nearby.
After that there's the Balls and random nights held every now and again. If you're looking to go out anywhere, you won't fall short of someone to go with. People in DCU are very sociable.

Are you an active member of any societies?

Yes

What society are you a member of?

Engineering Society, Surf n' Sail, SnowSports

Why do you enjoy being a member of this society? why should a prospective student think of joining this society?

The Engineering Society has a common room, and pretty much all societies organise cheap trips away e.g. Munich, Avoriaz or Portugal. (Ask about the Triple Trip!)

Are you a member of any sports clubs?

No

Weekly living expenses?

€60-80

Do you or have you lived away from home during college?

No

As a first year did you live in college halls?

No

Would you recommend living in college halls?

I've been in them, Larkfield isn't huge but everyone has a great time. They're kind of like a family.

Where would you recommend students live?

In a house close to DCU.

How would you recommend this college to a friend?

I love the campus, the people and pretty much everything about DCU. Go here.
