Why did you choose to study in this college?

I originally chose the course because I thought it would involve building robots and having fun.

Are you happy with your choice of course?

On reflection, what made it the right or wrong choice for you?

It was the wrong choice because after studying some subjects in the 1st year, which is common, I realised I never actually understood what was involved in the course and knew I would not be happy studying some of those subjects for the next 3 years.

How many hours of organised classes do you have per week?

Are your lectures/labs mainly based on or off the main campus?

Is your course weighted more on continuous assessment or end of year exams?

End of year exams

Is there an option to study abroad on your course?

I don't know

What are your favourite aspects of your course?

My favourite aspect is the huge amount of knowledge you learn about such a wide variety of subjects.

What are your least favourite aspects of your course?

The least favourite aspect is the writing you need to do for some particular modules which reminds me of being back in English for the Leaving Cert.

Was your course what you expected?

What do you wish you had known before choosing this course?

I wish I knew more about the actual modules which are taught on the course because I have now found that that is the only way to actually find out about what you are going to be studying for the next few years.

I have never had a question or problem that could not be answered or solved within the library.

Are you an active member of any societies?

If yes, please name the societies

I am the Chairperson of the Engineering Society which is currently in its first year.

Why do you enjoy being a member of this society? why should a prospective student think of joining this society?

I enjoy being a member of this society because it is full of like minded people who are easy going, fun, nice to know, kind and like me. The society also caters more directly for engineers and runs events that are not centered around alcohol but are centered around having fun doing fun things. The society is also the only society in DCU to have their own common room for just their members.

Are you a member of any sports clubs?

How much do you spend on living every week (going out, food, transport etc.), excluding rent and bills?

Do you or have you lived away from home during college?

How would you recommend this college to a friend?

I would recommend DCU as a very friendly college with loads of people who are very nice and a staff and student body who will go out of their way to help you. Modules are taught in a fun environment and everything about your modules is explained to you very concisely. You always know what is going on.
